Activity cost

$35 per person. Covers the cost of food for the weekend and resource requirements. 

Environment & Facilities

  • No access to power

  • Toilets and primitive showers on site

  • Cooking in a dining fly/ gazebo using bbq and gas stoves 

 

Purpose & Program Overview

  • Introduction to water activities and sailing for Joeys and Cubs, continuation of skills for Scouts, Venturers, and Rovers. A chance for families to connect.

  • Canoeing, sailing, swimming, and other activities.

Supervision & Attendance

  • Founders Day Camp for all sections of 3rd Orange, 3rd Bathurst, and TGW Rovers

  • All adults attending camp must:

Complete the 3 mandatory on-demand training modules

Hold a valid police check through Scouts NSW

Hold a valid Working With Children Check

Be a current registered member of Scouts NSW

  • All attendees over the age of 5 MUST be a fully registered member of Scouts NSW, Contact Caitlin if you wish to attend but are not a registered member
  • Joeys MUST attend with a parent/guardian

  • Attendees are permitted to leave site with a parent/ guardian if prearranged with Caitlin prior to the event. If not prearranged, participants will need to remain on site at all times.

Health, Safety & Hygiene

  • If unwell, please stay home. If you become unwell during the event, you may be sent home.

Behaviour & Participation Expectations

  • Everyone will be required to wear sun-safe clothing, sunscreen, and a hat to participate in activities.

    For swimming, canoeing, and boating activities, a hat, water shoes or old joggers (NO Crocs, thongs or sandals), and a PFD MUST be worn. If the required gear is not worn, you will not be able to participate in these activities.

  • Everyone will be expected to follow the Promise and Law
  • We will be camping as a group in a designated area. We will operate using the buddy system and Patrol system. 

Equipment & Clothing

Participants must bring:

Packing list

Sleeping

- Sleeping mat (blow up mattress, stretcher, self inflating hiking mat)

- Air pump (please label)

- Sleeping bag

- Blanket

- Pillow

- Soft toy

Luggage: Only weighs as much as your child can carry (not parents or the leaders) Enough for 2 days worth.

- 2 Camp shirts / region shirts / shirts with a collar and sun safe

- Shorts

- Pants

- PJs

- Jumper

- 3 pairs of undies

- 2 pairs of socks

-Uniform shirt and scarf

-Swimmers, rashie, and shorts

-Swimming Hat

- Water shoes or old joggers (NO CROCS, THONGS or SANDALS)

-Towel

- No thongs, singlets, skirts, dresses etc

- Spare shoes (no one is happy when your only pair gets wet or broken)

Day Pack (back pack)

- 2 Water bottles

- Small first aid kit (bandaids, saline, gauzes, sting relief gel for mozzies, ant bites etc)

- Wide brimmed hat or bucket hat

- Raincoat

- Sunscreen

- Bug spray

- Small hand sanitiser 

- Head torch

- Outdoor Adventure Skills book and Section book and pencil

- Other handy stuff: Compass, small notepad, etc (If you don't have a compass, we will be taking some from the hall)

Mess Kit: Please use a draw string bag or a pillow case (not a plastic bag)

- Plastic or enamel Mug

- Bowl

- Plate

- Knife, fork, spoon

- Tea towel

Label EVERYTHING or send what won't be missed if it doesn't come back

Toiletries:

- Tooth brush

- Toothpaste

- Brush

- Hair bands

- Floss

- Soap

Participants must NOT bring:

Please DO NOT bring extra food  (lollies, chocolates, chips, soft drinks, NUTS). Food will be provided by your home group. 

DO NOT bring multi tools or pocket knives unless stage 4 bushcraft has been obtained. 

This is a NO ALCOHOL EVENT. Under NO circumstances is alcohol to be brought to, or consumed during this event.

Any adults who smoke will be required to be out of sight and smell of all members. 

Failure to comply will result in you being asked to leave.

Responsibility for personal items:

Any items brought to the event are the sole responsibility of the participant and/ or their parent/ guardian. Under no circumstances will the leader be responsible for loss or damage of these items.

Food & Medical requirements

  • Food from Saturday breakfast to Sunday lunch will be organised by your home groups
  • 3rd Orange will cater for Rovers
  • Medications- Joeys to be kept and administered by parents/ guardian. Cubs and Scouts medication to be kept by parent/ guardian if coming or handed to the leaders with instructions. Venturers administer their own medication, but leaders are to be advised. Puffers, preventers, and EpiPens can stay in your day packs with instructions. 

Accommodation & Logistics

  • Youth will camp in their respective sections
  • Parents can not sleep in the same tent as their child, the only exception being in the case of the youth member requiring a CARER, and a FORMAL EXEMPTION has been OBTAINED by Scouts NSW. 

     

    3rd Orange:

    Tents will be sorted for all youth members.

    There may be some tents left over. If any adults require a tent, please contact Caitlin.

    Some other gear is avaliable be borrowed from the hall.

    3rd Bathurst:

    Please speak to section/ group leader about tent arrangements

Rovers will arrange their own sleeping arrangements.

3rd Orange:

  • Optional early arrival, 5pm at 3rd orange hall where leaders can assist with transport if required for cubs and up
  • Return to 3rd Orange at 3pm Saturday

3rd Bathurst:

Please speak to your Group Leader

OR

  • Families can also meet at Carcoar at 6pm Friday. If Families choose to stay Friday night, you will need to provide your own dinner. 
  • Programmed activities will start at 9am Saturday  to 2pm Sunday.

 

Cancellation & Refund Policy

  • No refunds will be provided after 6/2/2026.
